Retro Bar Stools – They're SO Now
A certain type of restaurant continues to enjoy success across the country; the retro style diner. Brightly coloured and harking back to a time where style was bold and brash, the retro diner is understandably enjoying a second wind as people want to actually go out and enjoy themselves. If you've been to such a place, sat on a swivel bar stool and bopped your head along with the upbeat 50s tunes you'll know what we mean. With this in mind, why not recreate the same playful feel in your new kitchen? Far from being outdated, retro bar stools are actually very 'now' and with so many colours and finishes to choose from, the sky's the limit when it comes to choosing your design scheme.
Bar Stools Actually Serve Purpose
Another trend that interior designers are seeing is the installing of breakfast bars in the modern day kitchen. Families increasingly find that they have conflicting schedules and working people in particular tend to grab meals on the go as they dash to meet their next appointment. Your standard kitchen dining seating isn't quite what works with a breakfast bar, so we spotted a function for bar stools. You don't have to pace the kitchen as you eat – perch on a stool!
Kitchen Socialising Made Easy
The kitchen might not exactly strike you as your premier hotspot for mingling with the social elite. But when you have company and are preparing food and drinks for friends, it's nice to have a place to enjoy a bit of socialising. With the modern house design favouring dining rooms as a separate extension of the kitchen it becomes even more likely that this will be the room where guests spend a fair amount of time, especially at parties. Don't expect everyone to stand, bar stools not only meet this need, they look great too. Certainly a talking point!
